NOTICE: THERE WILL BE A CHANGE IS STUDENT REPRESENTATION SHORTLY. AS SOON AS I KNOW MORE, I WILL POST IT HERE.

SITE BORING UPDATE 3/16/2012- Today a geotech company was doing boring to a depth of 7' all around the High School property to determine the best placement for utilities going to the new building. In the process they discovered the old "landfill" which turned out to be not much more than a couple feet of ash and some bits of metal and glass (construction and demolition debris from when the school was built in 1959). The workers tried to be as quiet as possible, but noise is unavoidable in a process like this, sorry for any inconvenience.

Overview: The current plan for the high school states that the new building will be built behind the current school on the hill. As part of the construction project the hill will be cut away and the bottom story of the building will replace it. The first floor will house the auditorium, gyms, locker rooms, CCTV, radio and music/drama classrooms. The second  story will contain the learning commons, art classrooms and guidance. Above this two more stories will be built. The third story will be dedicated to humanities (English, Social Studies and foreign language) and the fourth to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).
The new school will feature 36 classrooms, 4 outdoor classrooms, 12 science labs, one language lab, 1 small lecture halls, and 2 fabrication shops. Alongside this there will be specially-designed spaces for visual arts, music, drama, robotics, CCTV and the radio station.*
Construction will not impact the turf fields but the tennis courts and buss depot will be removed, with no plans of reinstatement.*
After construction is complete the current school and parking lot will be removed from the site. A new parking lot will be constructed around the new school with easy access to both a community and student entrance.
Funding will be provided via a $28.7 million state grant and the rest of the expenses will be divided among Concord (about 73%) and Carlisle (about 27%). The total cost of the new school is $93,400,000.

LATEST UPDATE: Turner construction was selected as the construction management firm for the new high school, with Shawmut in second place. Contract negotiations will begin with Turner and if they fail negotiations will commence with Shawmut.

Turner's latest project was the new Wellesley High School. This project is very close to what is being done in Concord and was completed in just about 3 years from the time Turner was selected to the date it was opened to students.
